ABOUT
Kelly Colchin is an illustrator and watercolor artist based in Austin, Texas. As a former advertising art director, she enjoys experimenting with different styles but tends towards work that is feminine and organic. Her practice includes watercolor, cut paper, making and painting with botanical pigments, pattern work, art direction and design.
Kelly learned to watercolor as a young girl from her grandmother at her family’s kitchen table. She now continues this tradition with her own children at a different table, but cherishes the use of a couple of her grandmother’s favorite brushes.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
“Kelly is the type of artist everyone dreams of working with — she is kind, thoughtful and purposeful in her design process. With just a few inspirational images and a compassionate conversation, she created exactly what we had hoped for Hotel San Jose’s custom packaging design, taking the utmost care and interest in the aesthetic, architecture and ambiance of the hotel. Now all those who order a gift for themselves or loved one online will be greeted with a sense of place without even visiting the hotel, which is exactly what we were hoping for. I can’t recommend Kelly enough!”
“Kelly is such a kind person, and the exact energy you want to be working with on a creative project! She was able to effectively capture in her illustrations the specific look and feel I was trying to convey with my brand — lighthearted, fun, and of course, beautiful! Any revisions that needed to be made were minimal, quick and easy. Now, I find myself looking for different projects to hire her for!”
“Kelly is more than an exceptional illustrator and collaborator; she is a joy to work with. From the start, she intuitively understood what we were looking for and approached challenges with humor, patience, and genuine enthusiasm. Her love of her craft is evident through her attention to detail and dedication to not just finding an easy solution, but the right solution. Simply put, she puts magic down on paper.”
“Kelly approached my brand and our story with genuine interest and curiosity. The wonder and magic I felt seeing how the original artwork she created conveyed that story, subtly yet inextricably, is something I will always cherish. I truly enjoyed the entire experience of working with her and I could not be happier with the outcome.”
